Population Estimates

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the 2007 mid-year population estimates on 21 August 2008. These are the most up to date estimates about the national population available. The latest estimates show that:

Haringey's population now stands at 224,700. This is an decrease of 0.4 per cent from the population in mid-2006 (225,700).

  • Some 4,000 more people migrated from the borough than arrived. This takes into account migration from within and outside the United Kingdom.
  • The natural change components of the estimates (i.e. births minus deaths) saw Haringey gain 3,000 people.
  • Haringey accounts for 3 per cent of the total London population. This remains unchanged from mid-2006.
  • London’s population increased by 0.6 per cent (44,500) from a revised 2006 figure of 7,512,400 to currently stand at 7,556,900
  • The United Kingdom (UK) population has grown to above 60,975,400.  Mainly driven by international migration the UK population has increased by 0.6 per cent (388,000) compared to the revised mid-2006 figure.
