New Start Apprentice Programme

The New Start Apprentice Programme

New Start is a council run apprentice scheme that offers training and employment in either administration or in amenity horticulture for young people between 16 - 24 years, particularly those who are unemployed.

The training programme lasts for one year, and during this year all trainees are expected to attend training for one full day each week to study for the Framework Apprenticeship Qualification Business Administration NVQ level 2 or for the Amenity Horticulture NVQ Level 2.

The administration training is currently provided by Haringey Adult Learning Service based in Wood Green, and Capel Manor College provide training at their Enfield Campus for the Horticulture qualification. Trainees spend one full day a week training and the remaining four days are spent in a work placement. Failure to attend training regularly will affect your continued employment.

The next programme will begin in September 2009 and recruitment will begin in Spring 2009. Details of the application process will be advertised on this website next year.
