Why work for Haringey?

With over 160 languages spoken, Haringey is an incredibly diverse borough, and an exciting place to work. As a Council, we are constantly improving standards. In our latest Comprehensive Performance Assessment, we achieved a three star rating (out of a possible four), and are deemed to be “improving well”. To continue on our journey to excellence, we need more of the right people – people who have the drive to achieve positive change in the face of our biggest challenges:

  • deprivation
  • unemployment
  • raising educational achievement
  • tackling crime and anti-social behaviour to build safer communities
  • creating a cleaner, greener, environmentally sustainable borough

What sets us apart from other authorities is our drive to achieve excellence in these areas. We have several major projects running to tackle environmental issues, including the successful ‘Better Haringey’ initiative. Educational achievement is improving with the borough’s GSCE pass rate increasing by 3% since last year. We are working closely with the Metropolitan Police and other partners to reduce crime and the fear of crime, through the Haringey Safer Communities Partnership.

Haringey recognises the importance of working in partnership with the community, and runs innovative initiatives that involve and engage local people, including area assemblies and their popular "Making the difference" budgets for local people. The council was awarded a prestigious Beacon Council Award for 2005 for excellence and innovation in this field.

The Graduate Trainee Scheme presents an exceptional opportunity to get involved in and contribute to the success of these and other initiatives.
