The Role of a Graduate Trainee
- To undertake a Graduate Trainee Scheme (GTS) programme, made up of core skills and specific work allocations, designed to train a person to meet the core skills required by the role.
- To provide research, co-ordination and office support for the Senior Manager associated with my placement.
- To provide support for project teams.
- To commit to continuous personal learning and development in order to achieve high level of competence as outlined in the Candidate Specification.
- To improve my understanding of the issues affecting local government.
- To actively contribute to the growth and development of the GTS cohort group.
- To undertake placement activities and complete various assignments, projects and tasks associated with each placement.
- To maintain and update the progress and activity log, in the Graduate Trainee Work Plan, for all training, learning and development received over the programme.
- To create an open learning environment by activity sharing knowledge and learning with peers and local authority colleagues.
- To contribute to the delivery of training for future cohort groups.
- To participate in network activities with peers in the programme.
- To participate in the recruitment of the next cohort of graduate trainees.
