Family Learning

Family Learning courses are about parents/carers and children learning together. Courses help parents/carers to understand what their children are learning at school.

The classes are educational and great fun.

Family Learning courses aim to:

  • Help parents/carers develop the skills and confidence necessary to support their children’s learning
  • Allow parents/carers to be directly involved in their children’s learning through working together in a structured session, using books, games and other resources
  • Look at the vocabulary of the school world, and understand Literacy and Numeracy strategies
  • Help parents/carers with ICT, Basic Skills and ESOL needs.  They can gain accreditation, and receive advice by Adult Guidance Advisers as to appropriate progression pathways:
    • Family Numeracy (40 hours)
    • Family Numeracy workshops (2 hours)
    • Family Literacy (40 or 80 hours)
    • Family Literacy workshops (2 hours)
    • Keeping up with the Children (24 or 40 hours)
    • Family Art
    • Here We Grow in partnership with Sure Start
    • Family Drama
    • Family Music
    • SHARE

“My children have improved their skills and are much more confident in the classroom.” Susan.

“Teachers have commented about my child being more confident, showing improved work and willingness to try harder.” Jan.
