Design For Print and Web

Applicants for these courses should be familiar with Apple Macintosh computers and have some design and computing experience. Please note places on the courses are limited and subject to eligibility conditions.

Introduction to Photoshop

Photoshop enables you to create or compose artwork collages or photomontages for print or the web. This course introduces the essential tools and techniques to enable an understanding of Photoshop and the ability to use it with confidence.

QuarkXpress is the leading page layout application used in the publishing industry. This course enables you to create the layout and design of anything from business cards to newspapers, books and magazines.

Introduction to Flash

Flash is used to produce quick loading vector based movies for the web. These movie files can consist of anything from a simple animation to an entire web site. The course will show you how to create artwork with Flash, how to produce animations and how to make your movies interactive.

Website design with Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is one of the leading website authoring packages. It offers an integrated design environment that enables designers to produce web pages and sites without having to write the underlying programming. The course also includes the use of Photoshop to prepare images for the web.

Digital Video Editing with iMovie

This course is for those new to digital video editing and covers using DV cameras and iMovie software to create and edit a short movie. The course covers organising and editing footage as well as adding scene transitions, titles, effects and music. We will also look at how to prepare your movie for viewing on the web.
