Work Placements for Employment

The North London Partnership Consortium (NLPC) is a MATRIX Standard accredited Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and National Open College Network (NOCN) accredited training centre. We provide IAG, accredited employability skills training (Levels 1/2/3), and work placement support for people currently not in employment or full-time education who wish to enter or return to sustained employment. We also work in partnership with the Haringey Association of Voluntary and Community Organisations (HAVCO) to provide volunteering opportunities.

We work with employers to place residents into voluntary work placements; designed to help trainees gain valuable experience, get job ready, improve their CV and progress into paid employment. Trainees are supported throughout their work placement and on completion.

What's involved?

Advisers will assess your skills and training needs and identify a volunteering or work placement opportunity that will make the best use of your experience and skills, and give you the tools to progress.

In addition, our advisers are always willing and available to help you to develop your CV writing skills, IT and admin experience, interview technique and any other qualifications you might require to make the transition into work.

Trainees can do a 6 week full time work placement or 2 days part-time over 3 months without this affecting their benefits claim. Trainees on work placement can also get help with childcare, travel and lunch.

You can be referred to the project through any of the other Haringey Guarantee projects, other local organisations such as Jobcentre Plus, or you can sign up with the scheme at the Northumberland Park Neighbourhood Resource Centre.
