Sew Tottenham
Sew Tottenham is a creative project based on Broadwater Farm and funded by the Skills Funding Agency's new Adult and Community Learning Fund.
The focus of Sew Tottenham is to provide Tottenham residents with the opportunity to:
- learn new skills in fashion design
- learn how to create their own clothes
- learn how to design, cut and sew
- develop web-based marketing skills
- develop portfolios to generate sales
Participants can also learn to assist in teaching sewing and ICT, leading to an Arts Award. Participants will also be able to market their completed portfolios at arranged community art events.
The overall aim of the project is to provide a community-based informal learning opportunity for adults; to encourage involvement and learning of both creative and business skills as well as to find out more about formal and mainstream support available to residents including Haringey Adult Learning Services (HALS) and the Council's flagship employment programme, the Haringey Guarantee.
