Information Advice and Guidance (IAG)

Our Employment and Learning Advisers (ELAs) provide careers information and advice on learning and work. They make regular class visits. This service is available to all learners on a course at HALS.

As a National Careers Service partner we also see adults aged 18 or over living, working or studying in the London region.

Our Employment and Learning Advisers:

  • Help adults at any stage of their lives to make choices about their skills, careers and qualifications
  • Support learners on HALS courses to get the best out of their course and plan what to do after their course
  • We provide career and skills advice to fit your individual needs to help you make the right choices about learning and work

So if you need help with:

  • finding out about courses
  • exploring funding options
  • opening a life long learning account
  • Assessing your skills and interests
  • finding out about courses
  • planning your career
  • looking for work
  • filling in job application forms
  • writing, updating or developing a Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • getting ready for job interviews
  • enhancing your current work skills and prepare new opportunities

You can access our services by:

  • Booking an appointment
    Appointments are available on Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays
  • Using the Thursday Evening Drop In Service (Term-time only)
    The drop in service operates between 5.00pm and 7.00pm. Please telephone reception to confirm availability before planning your visit
  • Enrolling onto an Employability Skills Workshop
    Details of workshops can be found in the HALS Course Guide and include:
  • Writing a Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Effective Job Search Skills
  • Completing Application Forms
  • Getting Ready for Job Interviews
  • Assertiveness and Public Speaking
  • Speaking in Public with Confidence
  • Self Motivational Techniques

HALS IAG service is a member of the National Careers Service partnership and is accredited by matrix (the national quality standard for information advice and guidance services).

You cannot be guaranteed a place on a course until your application has been assessed by our Admissions Team and we have received payment.
