Core Strategy
Consultation on the Core Strategy
The Council has now finished the first stage of consultation on its draft Core Strategy. The first stage of consultation set out Issues and Options which covered a broad vision for developments in Haringey over the next 20 years. It covered topics such as future housing, employment, retail, leisure, public services and transport infrastructure in Haringey, as well as how the borough might address climate change at a local level.
The Core Strategy will be a key element in the borough’s new Local Development Framework. This is replacing the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) as the overarching planning guide for the borough.
We have our consultation documents available on the planning policy consultation portal (external link). Whenever we have a current planning policy consultation the documents are put onto it. The portal also contains our previous consultation documents should you want to see them.
|back to topA copy of the Core Strategy Issues and Options is available to download in the attached files section below, although the consultation period, which ran from the 8 February to 31 March 2008, has now ended. We have made all the comments available for you to view on our planning policy consultation portal (external link).
In addition, a sustainability appraisal scoping report has been produced which provides sustainability objectives for the core strategy. This scoping report is subject to consultation with statutory bodies. The sustainability appraisal scoping report is also available to view or download in the attached files section below.
- Please note the Core Strategy Issues and Options and Sustainability Appraisal reports are between 2 - 4MB in size and may take a few minutes to download.
We are currently analysing the responses we have received from the consultation prior to beginning work on Preferred Options for our Core Strategy. When we have written these Preferred Options they will be the subject of a further consultation period when you will have a further opportunity to make comments. This consultation is likely to take place late in 2008.
Everyone who commented at the Issues and Options stage will be invited to make further comments at this second round of consultation. We will also hold various publicity events on these preferred options to ensure that we reach as wide and as varied an audience as possible. Details of this further round of consultation will appear on the Council’s Consultation Calendar nearer the time.
We have a database of individuals and groups who would like to be kept informed when we consult on issues around the Core Strategy. If you would like to be on that database please email us at ldf@haringey.gov.uk.
If you require any further information on the Core Strategy, please call the Planning Policy Team on 020 8489 1479.
