Historic Street Furniture Audit
An audit of Haringey’s historic street furniture was completed in March 2006. It provides information and photographs on some of the borough’s key historic features located on the public highways. You can download a copy of this in the attached files section below (please note the complete listing is nearly 3MB in size and may take some time to download. For people with slower Internet connections, we have split the listing into 4 sections).
The picture above shows the Grade II listed Bounds Green Road Obelisk (Drinking fountain) outside the Prince of Wales Public House on Bounds Green Road. The audit notes that it dates from 1880, that it was moved to present site in 1904, it is a tall obelisk of rough Cornish granite, set on a polished granite base with four bowls (none functional), with two octagonal steps with step-up blocks, access panel in west face, original ten-leaf bronze push button surround present on north bowl and manhole adjacent to the monument. Attractively set in front of The Prince of Wales Public House framed by large tree (recently pruned), in ring of tarmac.
