Private Sector Supply Team

The Private Sector Supply Team is responsible for the provision of services to landlords seeking tenants for private lettings and for the supply of emergency and temporary accommodation for households applying as homeless under the Housing Act. Accommodation is sourced from the private rented sector.

As major purchasers in this area the Group also contributes to the development and implementation of the Private Sector Housing Strategy and the Empty Property Strategy.

Key areas of work delivered by the team include:

• Property inspection, valuation and negotiation of terms with landlords
• Development of temporary accommodation schemes
• Financial administration of schemes including lease rental payments
• Development of large scale supply contracts from RSL and private partners, and contract monitoring
• Development and monitoring of emergency accommodation supply
• Co-ordination and promotion of services to assist and encourage owners of empty private properties to bring them into use
• Development and support for private AST lettings for the Council's nominees

The Group procures properties for the following temporary accommodation schemes:

• Private Sector Leasing - direct from individual landlords - Suspended until further notice
• Housing Association Leasing - from approved RSL (Registered Social Landlords) partners
• Emergency Accommodation (including Bed and Breakfast and Licenses) - direct from Letting Companies
• Assured Shorthold Tenancies - direct lets with the private sector.
