Empty Properties
If you own a long term vacant residential property we can help you bring it back into use . We can advise you on letting (either privately or through the council), repairs, selling and grants.
Empty Property Grants
There are two kinds of grants - both of which are discretionary.
The Landlord's Grant
If you own a residential property that has been empty for more than one year and in disrepair we may be able to give you a grant for renovations. We can give up to half of the cost of the works with the maximum being £17,000 and in certain circumstances we can give up to £30,000. Upon completion of works, the property must be let to the council for two years and can not be sold for 10 years.
First Time Buyer's Grant
If you are a first time buyer living in Haringey and buy a property that has been empty for more than one year and in disrepair, we may be able to give you a grant of up to half of the cost of the works with the maximum being £25,000. In return you must live there for 5 years and can not sell the property for 20 years.
