Options For Everyone

The following home ownership schemes are available to everyone but priority may be given to certain groups such as key workers or council tenants. Find out if you are eligible on the First Steps website (external link).

New Build HomeBuy (formerly known as Shared Ownership)

New Build HomeBuy allows you to part-buy, part-rent a newly built property owned by a housing association. A minimum income is required, but this is calculated on an individual basis.

Rent to HomeBuy

Rent To HomeBuy allows you to rent a new build property from a housing association at a discount (usually 80 percent of the market rate) for up to five years. After this period you have the option to buy your home as part of the New Build HomeBuy scheme (see above).

Home Ownership for people with Long term Disabilities (HOLD)

This scheme offers increased assistance if you have a long term disability and wish to buy a New Build HomeBuy property.
