Threats of eviction / asked to leave
Eviction
In most cases landlords who do not live with their tenants must serve a valid notice and apply to the Court for an Order of Eviction before evicting a tenant. Evicting a tenant without following the correct lawful process is a criminal offence.
If you feel you are being unlawfully evicted or threatened with unlawful evictions, we can offer you an appointment with one of our Options and Prevention Advisers. Please complete our online appointment form. At your appointment, we can advise you, investigate allegations of threatened or actual unlawful eviction and contact your landlord on your behalf to resolve the problem.
If the situation is an emergency please contact us immediately either in person or over the phone.
- You should make an appointment by telephoning the Prevention and Options advice line on 020 8489 4309 or by visiting a customer service centre.
Asked to leave
If you have been asked to leave, received a Notice, or a County Court Order to leave your accommodation, please make an appointment by telephoning the Prevention and Options advice line on 020 8489 4309 or by visiting a customer service centre. At your appointment, we will look into your situation, try to prevent your homelessness and/or advise what housing options are available to you.
