Homelessness Strategy

If you're homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or know someone who is, see our Preventions and Options Service page for advice.

Haringey has one of the worst homelessness problems in the country. Over 4,400 households live in temporary accommodation. This means that many people need our help and advice.

The Homelessness Act, 2002 required us to review homelessness in our area. The review needed to include information on:

  • the causes of homelessness
  • the needs of homeless households
  • the services available

Homelessness Review

We have thoroughly examined the quality of the services we provide to homeless households in the borough through the Homelessness Review. We have identified many strengths in our services to the homeless. Our temporary accommodation strategy has ensured that most of our homeless population is housed. However, we also identified areas where there is room for improvement.

Homelessness Strategy

The review enabled us to develop the Homelessness Strategy. This has allowed us to focus on the work needed to improve the homelessness situation in the borough. Conducting the review and developing the strategy has meant that we now work together with our partners to combat homelessness.
