Who can apply?

Anyone who is registered and active on Haringey Council's Housing Register can apply. You will need a User ID and PIN to bid for a property - we should have already sent you these if you are already registered. These will be six digit numbers.

  • If you are not registered, visit the Housing Register page to find out how to get on the waiting list.

Properties are advertised on our Home Connections website which will be updated every week.

You can also view the properties in the local free papers, the Tottenham and Wood Green Independent and Muswell Hill and Crouch End Times, which are delivered on Thursday and Friday.

We can even send you the weekly property list by email. You can register for this service by emailing the Lettings Team at lettings@haringey.gov.uk.

How it works

If you see a property that you like, you can put in a bid for it from Wednesday to midnight on the following Sunday.

You can bid for as many properties as you like and if you are short -listed, we will call the top seven bidders on the Tuesday -and then invite them to view as many as three properties as soon as Wednesday. So please make sure we have your most recent phone number!

Then we will make an offer to the most successful bidder on Thursday, following an interview to validate your application and check all your documents - so please get your documents ready.

A list of the documents you need is in the attached files section below.

And you could be moving into your new home as soon as the following Monday. That's just one week from spotting the property you like, bidding for it and accepting our offer.

Points required

Wondering how many points on average, you need to bid for a 3-bedroom property or to get a property in the area you'd like to live in?

See the Home Connections information sheet, called 'Home Connections Statistics', in the attached files section of this page to find out the average number of points needed for different sized properties.

How to bid for a home

There are three different ways you can make your bid, by web, phone and text - make sure you have the property advert number, your User ID and PIN ready.

On the web

Home Connections logo - click to visit the Home Connections website

To view properties and bid for them online, you need to go to the Home Connections website, click on 'I am already registered' and then enter your six digit user ID and PIN.

By phone

You will be assisted by an interactive voice recognition system when you bid by phone. It's very easy to follow. You will need a touch-tone phone with a hash - # button. Dial 020 7974 2696 and choose the language you want to use. Enter your user ID number and PIN. Select 1 to start bidding for a new property and the interactive voice system will take you through.

By text

To bid by text enter your pin number and user ID followed by the property number you are bidding for with the hash sign # in between each number.

So if your user ID is 023456 and your PIN 020961 and you want to bid for two properties with the references 123456 and 555444, you should enter:

Bid#023456#020961#123456#555444

and text this to 07781 482 894.
