Bus shelters

Image of a bus shelterThe responsibilty of the provision of bus shelters in the borough lies with London Buses and generally these are provided at all stops unless there are overriding technical difficulties.

Who provides and maintains bus shelters?

Bus shelters are provided at most bus stops by London Buses. These will either be maintained by London Buses themselves, or by ADSHEL. ADSHEL is an advertising firm, which supplies and maintains shelters in return for the ability to advertise on them.

To report any problems regarding the maintenance of bus shelters, please contact ADSHEL directly.

Can I request a bus shelter?

All requests for new shelters should be made to London Buses. London Buses will then assess the number of passengers using the bus stop, and decide whether they can justify a shelter. Shelters can only be provided if the footway is wide enough, and if the shelter does not obstruct visibility for drivers emerging from adjacent side roads.
