Recycling banks

There are recycling banks located on streets and other public locations throughout Haringey. To find the recycling banks that are most convenient for you please visit the Recycle Now website and enter your postcode - see the external links section below.

Please note that Haringey Council is offering all residents a recycling collection from their home through either green box collections, communal recycling facilities, or clear sack collections. If you do not currently have a collection from your home or if you are not sure whether a service is currently available to you please contact the Veolia Haringey Contact Centre:

If you live in a block of flats or other managed development the council may need to seek the permission of the managing agents or landlord to provide a recycling service. It is therefore useful if you are able to provide the details of the agent or landlord for your home when you contact us.

What can I recycle?

These banks can be used to recycle the following materials:

• Paper, cardboard and cartons
• Plastic bottles, tubs, pots and trays (no film or wrapping)
• Tins and cans (rinsed)
• Glass bottles and jars (rinsed, with lids removed please)

All of the recycling can be put into the same container as we sort the materials out later on.

What happens to recycling collected in mixed-material banks?

The recyclables collected in the new mixed-material banks are taken to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in London which separates the materials using a combination of mechanical separation and hand sorting. Once separated these materials are then bulked and delivered to reprocessing companies.

'On The Go' recycling litter bins

There are now special 'On The Go' recycling bins installed at 30 on-street locations in the busy shopping areas of Wood Green, Tottenham and Crouch End.

These recycling bins enable shoppers and other pedestrians to recycle:

• Paper and cardboard (clean)
• Plastic bottles
• Tins and cans
• Glass bottles and jars

Standard litter bins should be used for all other rubbish, including any paper or cardboard items that have food grease or residue stuck to them.

Newspaper/magazine recycling bins

In addition to the recycling banks, there are recycling bins for newspapers and magazine outside most Network Rail and London Underground stations in the borough.

What to do if the recycling bins are full

We aim to empty all recycling bins on a regular basis to prevent them from overflowing. However, if you do find that your local recycling bins are full, that rubbish has been dumped on the site or they have been vandalised please contact the Veolia Haringey Contact Centre:
