Source Separated Collections
Recycling can be collected using a separate container for each material. This system is called source separation.
In Haringey most collections of recycling are now mixed-material, but there are some locations where source separated recycling facilities are maintained.
Textile Banks
At a few locations in the borough there are extra recycling bins on the street for clothes and shoes. These banks are source separated facilities that belong to private companies working with Haringey Council. The containers are emptied by these companies or their contractors. For more information about these facilities please see the textile recycling page.
Reuse and Recycling Centres
The two Reuse and Recycling Centres in Hornsey and Tottenham provide residents with an opportunity to recycle a wider range of materials than can be collected in normal recycling bins or green boxes.
Most of the recycling containers at the Reuse and Recycling Centres are source separated, meaning different items are put in different skips or bins. These containers are collected by various organisations to be re-processed into new items.
Please note that the containers for paper, plastic bottles, tins/cans and glass bottles/jars at the Reuse and Recycling Centres are mixed-material.
For more information about the locations, opening times and materials accepted, please visit the Reuse and Recycling Centres page.
