Resident Parking Permits

Resident parking permits enable permit holders to park in any parking spaces that are reserved for resident permit holders

Note information on visitor vouchers is now on the visitor parking permits page.

Who qualifies for a resident permit?

To get a resident parking permit you must:

  • own or be the keeper of a car or other eligible vehicle with a copy of a valid tax disc. The maximum size for passenger or goods vehicles is 2.27 metres (7’6") high; 5.25 metres (17’3") long
  • be a resident in the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ)
  • be aged 18 or over

A resident parking permit only applies to the vehicle whose registration number appears on that permit.

Renewing your permit

Renewing online

You can renew your resident parking permit online. We send out a renewal reminder letter to existing permit holders five weeks before it runs out. However we recognise that there are some occasions when our renewal letters do not reach their intended destination, therefore if you have not received your renewal letter three weeks before the expiry of your existing resident permit please send an email to permits-vouchers@haringey.gov.uk confirming your name, address, permit expiry date and vehicle registration.

We will confirm by return the information you need to renew your permit.

Renewing by post

You should allow 10 days from the date of posting for your permit to be processed. If you have not received your new permit before your existing permit expires you should contact permits-vouchers@haringey.gov.uk and we will look into the matter further.

Late renewals can only be done at a Customer Service Centre paying by debit or credit card. Please note that this can involve queuing for an hour or so at busy times.

Please note that whilst we do send reminder letters, it remains a residents responsibility to renew their resident permit.

Permit prices

How are the prices worked out?

Permit charges are based on the CO2 emissions of vehicles registered on or after 23 March 2001.

For vehicles registered before 23 March 2001 the charges are based on engine size.

Where can I find these details?

Your vehicle log book gives you all the information you require. This document tells you the year in which your vehicle was registered, and if registered after 23 March 2001 will give you the CO2 emissions that applies to your vehicle. For vehicles registered prior to this date you can use the log book to find out your engine size.

Increase in Parking Permit Charge

Please note that resident permits prices and charges for other services delivered by Traffic Management have increased by 3% for 2013/14 in line with all other Haringey Council services where a fee is charged. Please read the permit charge increase (PDF, 24KB) document to see the increases.

Change your parking permit details

Updating your Contact Details

You can update your contact details (phone or email address) using our online form. You will need your permit reference number and applicant ID from the letter that your permit was printed from. If you do not have these details, then please email permits-vouchers@haringey.gov.uk instead.

Change of Vehicle

If you have changed your vehicle and already have a Resident’s Permit, please email permits-vouchers@haringey.gov.uk. Please attach a scan of a bill of sale or the new vehicle’s v5 document (log book).

If the new vehicle falls into a different emission banding (see the permit price list page for further information about emission banding) we will issue you with a pro rata refund on your old permit.

We will then take payment for your new permit and issue you with a new permit.

If your new vehicle falls within the same emission banding, there is a £10.30 administration charge to pay for replacing the permit.

Note for Blue Badge holders

If you have a blue badge you are allowed to park your vehicle in any type of parking bay except business bays, doctor bays and in loading and unloading restricted areas.

Foreign vehicles

Residents who own a foreign vehicle must register it with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (see the DVLA website in the external links section below) who will issue them with a V5 logbook. The logbook can then be used to apply for a parking permit.
