Noise Team Seizes Sound Equipment

A man who refused to turn down his music has seen his sound equipment confiscated after ignoring a noise abatement notice.

Haringey’s Enforcement Response team took the equipment after confirming neighbours' complaints that the noise levels breached the notice.

Neighbours had contacted the enforcement team on 16 March to complain about loud music coming from a flat in Willoughby Mews N17, which had already been issued with a noise abatement notice.

Council officers visited the property and agreed the music exceeded acceptable levels.

After further complaints council officers applied for a warrant to seize the sound equipment.

On 18 March, council officers accompanied by police, visited the home and confiscated the equipment which was the source of the noise.

Haringey's Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Councillor Nilgun Canver, said:

It is very sad that some people do not understand the negative impact they are having on their neighbourhood by this anti-social behaviour. Sometimes they are just inconsiderate and other times they may need help themselves.

With summer on the way and hot weather prompting everyone to get out the barbecues it's even more important that we all be considerate to our neighbours, so we can enjoy the summer without spoiling it for everyone else.
