Trees

The Parks Service is responsible for maintaining and managing all trees and shrubs in the borough’s parks, local nature reserves and on housing estates and streets. If you have a query about a tree in one of these areas, you will need to contact the relevant service:

Parks and Local Nature Reserves: 020 8489 5662

If a tree owned by Haringey Council (on land listed in the above locations) is causing damage to your property, you must contact your own insurance company. They will provide arboricultural and technical evidence as well as any structural evidence of building damage in support of any potential claim. These reports should be marked for the attention of:

Privately Owned Trees

If the tree is on privately owned land then the maintenance rests entirely with the landowner. If the tree is causing damage to your property you must contact the tree’s owner directly.

Tree Works

Before you begin work on any tree, you must always find out if it is covered by any Tree Preservation Orders (TPO). If the tree is protected, you will need written consent to carry out the work. If written consent is not obtained, and work is carried out on a protected tree, the owner or person carrying out the work may be prosecuted and fined up to £20,000.
