Successful Prosecutions
On this page we intend to outline some of our recent successes in tackling environmental crime throughout the borough.
Case 1 - Illegal fly posting
Summary of the offence
Four illegal posters had been put on the billboard opposite Bruce Grove train station for the purpose of advertising a friendly pre world cup football game between Iceland and Trinidad and Tobago. The game was due to be played on the 28th February 2006 at Loftus Road stadium, the home of Queens Park Rangers Football Club.
The advertisements were first noticed on 17th February 2006 and a warning notice for their removal was duly sent. The posters had still not been removed on 23rd February 2006 and it was decided to prosecute the perpetrator and the associated beneficiaries - Ticket Mania.
Outcome of the Prosecution
Ticket Mania were convicted in their absence of an offence under the Town and Country Planning Act 1992 on the 26th September 2006. Ticket Mania received the maximum permitted fine of £1000 and full costs of £1217 were also awarded to the Council.
