Street Wardens

Our Aims

We aim to improve people's quality of life by making our streets and public spaces cleaner, greener and safer. We also aim to reduce anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime in our communities.

How we meet our aims

  • Street Wardens provide a uniformed deterrent against crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • We act as the eyes and ears of the community, reporting and solving problems so residents don't have to.
  • We work closely with the street enforcement team, police, other enforcement agencies and those who provide services to our streets and public spaces.
  • Street Wardens tackle fly-tipping, littering, graffiti, dog fouling, fly posting, highway obstructions and low level youth nuisance.
  • Street Wardens also try to deter crime by providing regular patrols in the community during operational hours Monday to Saturday.
  • Because we care about the appearance of our streets and public spaces, we report and follow up on the problems we find and those you tell us about.
  • We work with the community to promote pride and respect for our streets and public spaces.
  • We make sure people know about our service by going to all Area Assemblies and other groups when we are asked.
  • We challenge anti-social behaviour where it is safe to do so.
