Alternative Vote Referendum 2011
The first national referendum in 35 years was held on Thursday 5 May, giving everyone the chance to decide whether Britain should change the voting system used at UK Parliamentary elections.
The final UK result was:
- 6,152,607 Yes (32.10%)
- 13,013,123 No (67.90%)
The results for Haringey were:
- 30,310 Yes (56.62%)
- 23,223 No (43.38%)
Total electorate size: 150,299
Turnout: 53,655
Turnout as a percentage: 35.70%
Number of valid votes cast: 53,533
Number of spoilt ballots: 122
Spoilt ballots as a percentage: 0.23%
