Pay Policy Statement
The Localism Act 2011 requires relevant authorities to prepare and publish an annual Pay Policy Statement which outlines the local authority’s approach to the pay of its workforce and in particular the pay of its senior staff.
This page and the following documents and links provide information about the council’s pay policy statement for the year April 2013 – March 2014.
Full Council will be given the opportunity to vote on large salary packages offered to new senior appointments where the starting salary is over £100k.
The council will publish specific information on the pay and reward of staff earning more than £50,000 on its website in line with the Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on data Transparency and the accounts Audit regulations 2011.
Also for staff on senior manager grades, chief officer grades and the chief executive additional information will be supplied including job title, employee maximum salary payment, names of employees (subject to their agreement), number of staff managed and staff budget.
The Council is obliged to publish a pay multiple, this is the ratio between the highest paid salary and the median average salary figure for all employees in the council.
The senior manager and chief officer appraisal scheme will also be published together with a copy of the pensions policy and use of discretions in termination payments.

For clarity 'headcount' or 'HC' is the number of employees and 'FTE' is the number of working hours that represents one full-time employee during a fixed time period, in this case one year
