Connections

Haringey Local-National-World Links by Sylvia Collicott

Connections traces the local, national and world links of Haringey. Author and local historian Sylvia Collicott, writes:

"This book traces some of the links between Haringey and the worldwide scene over the last four hundred years. These local-national-world links record the growth of Britain's mercantile power, fuelled by an enthusiastic entry into the Slave Trade, the birth of the Industrial Revolution and the development of the British Empire."

See below for a copy of the book and for a transcript of Sylvia Collicott's speech in Haringey as part of the 2007 Haringey commemorations of the parliamentary abolition of slavery.
