Our Chief Executive

Kevin Crompton, Chief Executive

Kevin Crompton

Kevin joined Haringey Council as Chief Executive in March 2010.

He is passionate about ensuring that the council provides the very best services and truly makes a difference to the quality residents lives. Kevin’s chief message and encouragement to staff is: “We must learn to do better what we already do well.”

He also made clear: “Key to our success will be a sharp focus on putting the customer first and providing value for money. Above all, it means staff taking pride in the work they do and operating as one team to improve services.”

It is Kevin’s job to work with the Leader of the council and elected members to set the direction for the organisation and ensure what the council is doing reflects the administration’s agenda.

Ultimately, he is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the council and leading its workforce to deliver hundreds of services to the residents of Haringey.

Before taking over the reins at Haringey, Kevin was the Chief Executive of Luton Borough Council, where he took particular pride in the number of regeneration projects completed so successfully. The borough’s Building Schools for the Future programme has been widely praised, as have Children’s’ and Adults’ Services, which Kevin is pleased to have left performing well.

A former teacher, he has worked in eight local authorities, including Brent, Hackney and Lambeth, and has a strong background in Children and Young People’s Services, as well as much experience of working in multi-cultural communities.

Prior to his appointment to Luton Council in 2005, he was Corporate Director of Education and Children’s Services at Solihull Metropolitan Council. Under Kevin’s guidance, Solihull began the development of children’s services prior to Every Child Matters, and was a pathfinder Children’s Trust.
