Quality Assurance Systems
Stepping Stones: A Quality Assurance System for Haringey Voluntary and Community Organisations
A summary report of Haringey’s Equalities Impact Assessment
Background
A 2007/8 Equalities Impact Assessment on the Grant Aid Standards highlighted a number of areas around organisational quality that may have prevented some voluntary and community organisations from successfully securing grants and contracts from the Council and from other sources.
Way forward
The CVST is now developing a quality assurance toolkit called the Stepping Stones Quality Assurance System to help improve organisational policies and practices and to improve the chances of under-represented groups in successfully winning grants or contracts.
Additional benefits
Stepping Stones will also be used as an additional tool to help identify areas where an organisation may be weak and need support to put things right.
Stepping Stones will also:
- assist the development of robust and effective organisational policies and practices that will enable an organisation to be ‘grant or contract ready’
- help organisations to provide a good quality service for the residents of Haringey
- provide organisations with more credibility in fundraising as a competent, robust, quality organisation
- provide external verification of an organisation’s quality standards
Consultation
The CVST consulted widely during the preparatory stages of Stepping Stones, including the following organisations:
- HAVCO
- HPA (Haringey Play Association)
- Age Concern
- The LB Haringey Corporate Voluntary Sector Officers Group
- Various Children and Young People organisations at a 2008 CYP event
- Organisations funded by the CVST
