Haringey Health and Social Care LINk (Local Involvement Network)

Having your say about health and social care services.

What is a LINk?

Haringey Health and Care LINk was set up from April 2008.

Your Local Involvement Network (LINk) gives you the opportunity to influence your local health and care services. Anyone can get involved, and it has been set up to make sure that people in your area get the health and social services they need.

Your LINk wants to hear about your experiences of health and social services and your ideas for improvements or changes. It has the power to implement small changes and influence big changes.

What will the LINk do?

LINks are made up of individuals and community groups who work together to improve local services. The job of a LINk is to find out what people like and dislike about local services and work with the people who plan and run them to help make them better.  This may involve talking directly to health care professionals about a service that is not being offered or suggesting ways that an existing service could be made better.

LINks also have powers to help with the tasks and to make sure changes happen.

What services will the LINk cover?

Haringey LINk will look at all health and social care services in the borough. It will not matter whether the services are provided by the NHS, the council, a private company, a social enterprise or a charity. Haringey LINk will feed back information to the people responsible for commissioning, providing, managing and checking up on health and social care services so that things can change if they need to.

Haringey LINk will not replace groups that are already working for the community. Instead Haringey LINk will bring together the whole community and will have certain powers. It should make it easier for groups and individuals to be heard.

Haringey LINk Host organisation

To make sure that Haringey LINk remains independent a "HOST" organisation will support the LINk. In December 2007 and January 2008 the council undertook an extensive consultation to identify potential models for the host followed by an open tender process.

The Shaw Trust has been appointed as the independent Host organisation who support the Haringey LINk

Haringey Local Involvement Network (LINk) is based within the Wood Green Central Library allowing convenient and central access.

How can you have your say

There are many ways you can get involved. You can take a few minutes to answer a survey or take longer to represent the community when a health or social care service is being discussed with service providers. Contact the LINk office by phone 020 8888 0579 or email HaringeyLINk@shaw-trust.org.uk
