The Tape is Cut

More than 100 people joined Haringey's annual multi-faith event to commemorate the Holocaust on Sunday 27 January.

The event, at Bruce Castle in Tottenham, saw the unveiling of the new sculpture for the borough's Holocaust Memorial Garden. The unveiling was performed by local artist Claudia Holder, who designed the sculpture, with Tottenham MP David Lammy. Also in attendence were Councillor Sheila Peacock and Haringey Mayor Councillor Sheik Thompson.

Communal prayers were led by Rabbi Yitzhok Sufrin from Highgate Synagogue and Abdool Alli from Wightman Road Mosque in Wood Green. Speakers also included Haringey resident Elsa Shamash, who came to the UK from Berlin in 1939 on the Kindertransport.

Musical contributions came from singers from St. Thomas More School in Wood Green, and Carmen Phelan Morley who played the theme music from the film 'Schindler's List' composed by John Williams.
