Ermine Road Studio
Open Studio Project
Supported by Keith Simmonds
Open Studio provides a forum for artistic exploration and social interaction for people who may have experienced difficulties in accessing 'mainstream' arts services.

For some, this may be to pursue a college course; for others, it may be to publish their work on the internet, exhibit, or merely network into other arts organisations.
This group also provides an opportunity for art students on their college placement, to gain hands-on experience of working in the arts.

Led by Tereza Araujo + Keith Simmonds
This group explores the interdisciplininary nature of drama and movement work with the visual arts.
This group is invariably project based with a clear starting point. The visual arts component is chosen as a direct consequence of what is pursued dramatically. Artists are encouraged to explore these disciplines from a personal and imaginative perspective. This is a closed group and working both individually and in a collaborative way are actively encouraged.

Led by Reza Pazoki
The exploration of art in all it's dimensions, is the principal aim of this on-going group.

The central focus of the group, is not only to encourage artmakers to acquire those painterly skills necessary to be more conversant in the medium, but to bring a sense of freedom and enjoyment, so that the group develop a confidence to use the medium expressively.
This group is for artmakers with profound learning disabilities and those with autistic spectral disorders.
|Back to topExperimental Art Group
Led by Ian McLaughlin + John Chapman
This is an open group which is principally aimed at providing experimental art activities that focus on sensory stimulation for artists with more profound learning and physical disabilities and multi sensory impairments.

Artmaking takes place in a safe and relaxed environment with close support.
The group has developed from an evolving series of loosely structured tactile workshops where working with aromas, clay, electronic art and kinetic art are all viewed as part of the creative journey.

Co-ordinated by Keith Simmonds
These changing groups maintain a flexible approach to the acquisition of new skills and creative expression. For this reason, projects are often open-ended and maybe short or medium term.

Artmaking may take place inside the studio or in an outreach setting. Artmakers are encouraged to join as and when they feel like they have a positive contribution to make, or leave when they may have reached a certain point in that attainment.
