Printing Primaries
This project explored colour theory through the exploration of basic silk screen printing. Two artmakers new to the screen printing process had the freedom to create hand cut stencils and manipulate the primary colour palette to produce a five colour print over the course of the project.

The process of printing was broken down to its absolute rudimentary components, with all the procedures conducted by hand without the use of a conventional printing press, thus removing the over-reliance on mechanical processes. In some cases this meant misregistration, smearing of the ink and blank printed areas, all adding to the exploratory nature of the project.
Artmaker Junior Angus enjoyed making his own stencils using torn newsprint and mixing bright contrasting colours with which to print. The group also experienced their first lesson in the construction of a simple silk screen printing frame.
