Online reference resources

Haringey Libraries offer a range of online resources that can be accessed over the Internet.
Use the summary list below to find out which resource you need, then click on the link in the external links section below.

Note: when asked for a library logon ID, please type HAR (not HA) followed by your full (8 digit or 7 digit + X) library card number e.g. HAR56666666 or HAR5666666X (with no spaces).

• Haringey Library Catalogue -- search for items in any Haringey library, renew items and reserve books from the collection.
• Oxford Reference Online – includes 130 subject dictionaries, world encyclopaedia, and 500 maps.
• Oxford Dictionary of National Biography – includes 50,000 biographies.
• Oxford English Dictionary Online – dictionary which is updated every quarter with around 1800 new words.
• Grove Dictionary of Music – includes 45,000 articles covering musical styles, instruments and composers.
• Grove Dictionary of Art – includes 45,000 articles on the arts and over 130,000 art images.
• People Network Enquiry Service - Why not ask an online trained librarian for help with homework topics; general information or those things you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask?
• Britannica Online Library Edition -  Homepages are tailored to the age of users.
