Schools Library Service for teachers
Haringey Schools Library Service supports local schools by providing a wide variety of resources for loan; by the provision of advice on the organisation and running of school libraries and by the organisation of termly meetings and INSET. All loans can be delivered to and collected from schools.
Details of the service
Project loans
The service provides non-fiction, fiction and dual language books and a variety of non-book resources - artefacts, models, videos, and wall charts etc. – for loan to teachers in primary and special schools. These are linked to the National Curriculum and the wider curriculum from the Foundation Stage to lower Key Stage 3. Loans can be selected in person or by the staff in response to requests.
In the attached files section below you will find the project loan request form which can be filled out and returned to the service.
Art loan scheme
Primary and special schools in Haringey who buy in to the service also have access to the Primary Art Loan scheme (PALS). Each box contains objects and artefacts on a particular theme e.g. African Artefacts, Carnival Sculpture, Women Artists. The contents can be used as a focus for central display and as a stimulus for work in many areas of the curriculum.
Advisory service
One day’s advisory work is included in the subscription to the service. This can include advice on setting up or reorganising a library including design, shelving and computer systems; advice and assistance with stock management and book purchase.
Further work can be undertaken and is charged at a daily rate.
Termly meetings are organised for school library staff and training sessions arranged.
