What you can borrow

Library members can borrow books, audio books, language courses and toys free of charge. There is a small charge for borrowing music CDs and DVDs.

Members may borrow up to 12 books/audio books, eight CDs and four DVDs/videos to a maximum of 24 items.

You may keep each item for three weeks (six weeks for language courses). DVDs may only be borrowed for two days or for one week.

Library charges

General Charges

• Reservations - Standard rate = 80p
• Reservations - Over 60s and concessions = 40p
• Overdue books - per item per day (except DVDs) = 15p
• Maximum overdue charge per item (except DVDs) = £5.00
• Overdue charges for over 60s = no charge
• Overdue charges for younger people (16 years and under) = no charge
• Lost ticket replacement = £1.50
• Lost ticket replacement for over 60s and under 16 = 75p

If you lose or damage an item we shall charge you for the cost of replacing it. In the case of DVDs/videos, this is the cost of the rental edition. If an item is out of print or production, there will be a charge of £10.

Audio Charges (per 3 week loan)

• CDs - standard charge = 50p
• CDs - concession rates = 25p
• Renewal fees - any item at the above rates

Audio items are free of charge for people over 60. Concessionary tickets are available for students, those with disabilities and people claiming job seekers allowance.

Spoken Word - Talking Books (per 3 week loan)

No charge

If spoken word recordings are overdue, the charges will apply for every additional loan period stated.

DVD/Video (maximum of 4 DVDs/videos)

• Blockbuster Films = £2.50 per loan for 2 days
• Feature Films & Documentaries = £1.00 per loan for 1 week
• Multi-DVDs (sets of 4 or more) = £2.50 per loan for 1 week
• Renewal fees - any item at the above rates

Copying / Printing / Computing Services

• Black and white photocopies - A4 = £0.10
• Black and white photocopies - A3 = £0.20
• Colour photocopies - A4 = £0.50
• Colour photocopies - A3 = £1.00
• Printing from the People's Network (black/white) = £0.10
• Sale of USB (2Gb) = £8

Facsimile Services

• UK and Ireland only (per sheet) = £0.75
• Incoming faxes (per sheet) = £0.25
