Borrowing and Charges
What you may borrow
Library members can borrow books, audio books, language courses and toys free of charge. There are small charges for borrowing music CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays.
Members may borrow up to 12 books/audio books, eight music CDs and four Blu-Rays/DVDs/videos to a maximum of 24 items.
The loan periods for each item are:
- books and audio books for three weeks
- language courses for six weeks
- music CDs for one week
- Blu-Rays, DVDs and videos may only be borrowed for two days or for one week.
Membership Information
- You will need to present your Library card for issuing, PC access and printing
- Maximum renewal limit is six times, unless item has been reserved
- Membership will need to be renewed every three years

Library charges
General Charges
- Reservations - standard £1.10; Over 60s 55p
- Overdue books per item per day (except Blu-Rays and DVDs) - standard 20p; Over 60s 10p
- Maximum overdue charge per item (except Blu-Rays and DVDs) - standard £6; Over 60s £3
- No overdue charges for Under 16
- Lost ticket replacement - standard £2; Over 60s and Under 16s £1
- Small Ads, A5 £2.50 per three weeks
If you lose or damage an item we shall charge you for the cost of replacing it. In the case of Blu-Rays/DVDs/videos, this is the cost of the rental edition. If an item is out of print or production, there are standard charges to a maximum of £18
Audio Charges (per one week loan)
- CDs - standard 55p; Over 60s 25p
- Renewal fees at the above rates.
- Overdue charges apply at standard 20p per day per item; Over 60s 10p per day per item
Spoken Word/Audio Books (per 3 week loan)
- Standard charge £1 per item
- Renewal fees at the above rates.
- Overdue charges apply at standard 20p per day per item
Audio items are free of charge for people under 16, over 60 and people registered blind or visually impaired.
Blu-Rays/DVDs (maximum of 4)
- Blockbuster Films £3 per loan for two days
- Feature Films and Documentaries £1.10 per loan for one week
- Multi-DVDs (sets of 4 or more) £3.30 per loan for one week
If DVDs & Blu-Ray are overdue, full hire charges will apply for every additional hire period stated.
Videos (per 1 week loan)
Videos are free, overdue charges of 20p per day apply to videos only
