Racket and Ball Sports
We deliver a flexible service to suit your needs. We have broken our activities down into 3 options:
- casual/drop-in sessions where you just turn up and play; or
- take on a 10 week course of your favourite activity; or
- book a space or pitch for team sports like football or volleyball.
Casual Sessions
- Squash Courts: 3 glass backed squash courts, ideal for coaching and exhibitions. Also available as Adult and Junior beginners courses.
- Badminton: Pre-book a session or drop in and play a 55 minute session. See the prices in the membership guide in the attached files section below.
- Netball: We allow any organisation or groupings/teams to hire the space at their leisure and responsibility. For further information please see the netball Club List.
- Five-a-side football: We allow any organisation or groupings/teams to hire the space at their leisure and responsibility. See the football Club List for further information or alternatively join a Junior mini soccer course.
- Table tennis: Table Tennis is available throughout the day subject to availability; these are considered casual sessions but you must book at reception for a 45 minute session. For further information see the prices in the Membership Guide at the bottom of the page.
- Volleyball: We allow any organisation or groupings/teams to hire the space at their leisure and responsibility. For further information please see the volleyball Club List.
- Short mat bowls: This part of our Active Generation 50+ club takes place every Wednesday at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre 10 a.m. – 12 noon followed by tea and biscuits in the Lagoon café. For further information call 020 8489 5322.
Courses
Junior mini soccer (6 - 12 years)
Developed by the Football Association to meet the needs of children and so provide a more appropriate introduction for all boys and girls 6 - 12 years of age. Lessons are 1 hour 25 mins long. An Individual certificate is awarded to everyone who completes the course.
Beginners: 6 - 9 Years old
Improvers: 8 - 12 Years old
Mini soccer provides:
- more fun, enjoyment and involvement
- more touches of the ball
- more movement and exercise
- a game which children can understand and play: to the children mini soccer is 'real soccer'
Adults and juniors (11-15 years) squash for beginners
The basic aim of this seven week introduction to Squash is to explain the game, the tactics, the basic rules and to demonstrate all the shots necessary to play the game. Lessons are 55 mins long.
Beginners' syllabus
- straight backhand/forehand lengths
- cross court backhand/forehand lengths
- the volley, the boost, the dropshot, the lob
- the serve/return of serve
- rules of the game and scoring
Improvers' syllabus
- develop and improve strokes
- variation of serve
- correct footwork
- court positioning
- tactical play
Note: if you hold an Active membership card you may find your sporting interest is included in the price of your membership or at a reduced rate.
