Class Descriptions

What the classes involve

50+ Aerobic (active generation).
Our qualified instructors offer specifically designed classes for our active generation customers. Easy going groups are designed for those who find our usual sessions just a little hectic, also for beginners. Loose comfortable clothing and flat rubber soled shoes required.

Spinning Bike

Stationary bike work out to music combining hill work with sprints to provide the ultimate workout burning 300 - 600 calories per class. A studio based instructed class on specifically adapted cycles, and what's more you control the level of the workout. Beginners need to arrive 5 min. early.

Body Blitz/Body Max

These sessions could have different formats but they will always give you a full body workout including cardio and muscular fitness often using hand weights that target specific muscle groups to improve muscle tone. Using free weights to music, for those wanting real results and needing extra motivation to really pump that body.

Legs, Bums and Tums

A full body workout with a mix of Aerobics and toning to really blitz that lower body. Concentrating on those difficult areas.

MIxed Circuits

A total body workout incorporating cardiovascular, muscular endurance and strength. It's wild, loud and full of variety.

Energy Express

An energy filled class to work you out from top to toe using a combination of high and low impact moves including floor work. Suitable for all levels.

Junior Street Jam/Adult Street Dance

This dance class helps to develop rhythm, co-ordination, balance and movement with an emphasis on fun. Choreographer movement to modern and R'n'B beats.

Modern Dance

Find your own way of moving and express yourself through dance while having fun. This class involves a great sense of flow, the use of the body weight and a range of dynamics. It sets an anatomical awareness through imagery and creative visualisation.

Khai-Bo

A non-contact aerobics martial arts workout. The Khai-Bo work out is based on punch/kick combinations choreographed to music. Khai-Bo is the ultimate workout, and is innovative, fun and suitable for all levels.

Aerobics/Li-Ho Cardio

A high energy level aerobic work out to music designed to improve the efficiency of the heart and lungs. The classes sometimes have a short floor work section for muscle toning. Intermediate level, but still welcomes everyone.

Step

A high intensity low impact workout using specially designed steps incorporating muscle toning, strengthening and flexibility. A challenging and effective workout for all levels, combining step, body conditioning, floor work and an intense abdominal section. Guaranteed to make you work.

Total Body

Full body workout combining step workout to target the lower body and toning exercises for arms and abs areas. Consisting of hi-lo impact moves, aiming to improve your fitness and tone your body

Abs Blast

This class focuses on the abdominal and back area, the mid section and core muscles by working on all 4 layers of the abdominal musculature and the back extensors. Please note that participants with back injuries or problems may not be initially able to perform all the exercises.

Aqua Fitness

A range of low impact workouts in the water are on offer. By using the water for support you can work up to three times harder without risking damage to your muscles and joints. Whether you're a swimmer or not, this is a great way to achieve general body fitness.

Waterobics classes take place in a depth of water that allows participants to stand comfortably on the floor whilst exercising. A variety of equipment is used to assist in increasing cardiovascular fitness, strength and tone. All classes are conducted by a qualified teacher.

Deep Aqua Fitness

Deep water classes are completely non-impact and participants wear flotation belts and spend the whole class in deep water.

Aquanatal

The Aquanatal class is specifically designed to assist pregnant women in maintaining fitness and flexibility and is conducted by a qualified instructor. Participants are advised to consult their physician before beginning an exercise programme.

The Antenatal class focuses on regaining tone and fitness following birth. Women are advised not to recommence aquatic exercise until six weeks post-partum and only with the approval of their physician.

Yoga
With an emphasis on breathing and relaxation. Avoid eating a heavy meal before the class.

Belly Dancing

Originates from the Middle East and besides being a beautiful dance it is also a great way to keep fit and exercise. You will improve your stamina, coordination and confidence. Lots of fun and an escape from everyday routine.

Cardio Kick

An intense but simple aerobics class based on martial arts style choreography.

Movement Awareness Class

Awareness through movement, focuses on posture, flexibility, breathing, can relieve stiffness and chronic pain also helpful in injury prevention. All exercises done on the floor and modifications and adaptations are offered for different abilities and needs.

Body Sculpt/ Active Pump

An intensive free weight barbell class performed to music aiming to develop muscle tone in all body areas.

Combo Class

High calorie burning class. Provides a full body work out incorporating simple step routine to boost your stamina, hand weights to increase muscular tone and floor exercises targeted at any ‘trouble areas’.

Chair Based Exercise

A specialised class aimed at individuals who would like to improve their strength, flexibility and posture. Suitable for those who are not prepared to sustain longer periods of standing/ walking and /or may have troubles with balance. The entire class can be performed in a seated position if required.

Aero Challenge

Challenge your motor skills within an intermediate aerobic work out.

Salsa Cardio

An aerobic workout using salsa dance choreography steps.

Boxing Circuit

Martial arts class involving partner work using punching gloves, pads, shields. Develops endurance, power, agility, strong mind. No previous experience necessary

Pilates

Help develop strength, flexibility, endurance and posture without building bulk or stressing joints.

Fit Ball Conditioning

A range of upper and lower body exercises using stability ball. Great for core stability training, abs and back conditioning, balance and body awareness.

Baby Workout

Parent and baby workout where the parent uses the baby to increase intensity of the exercise; e.g. squats holding the baby (babies should be no older then 6mnths).

Zumba Fitness

Combines high energy and motivation music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It's based on the principle that a workout should be fun and easy to do. It's a feel free workout that is great for both the body and the mind.
