Most Popular Parks
27 parks were named by the 2009 respondents. The parks visited graph in the attached files section below shows the popularity of parks based on those mentioned in the survey.
When a usage calculator is used which takes into account the parks mentioned and how often that park is used – every day, once a week, once a year etc – we’re told that a number of parks saw a significant increase in visits including Priory Park, Albert Recreation Ground, Chestnuts Park, Markfield Park and Lordship Recreation Ground - as shown in the estimated visits graph in the attached files section below.
Historically Priory Park and Finsbury Park have been the most visited parks – since 2003 they have accounted for approximately 40% of all visits to Haringey parks.
There could be a number of reasons why increases to these parks were seen. Satisfaction with play areas in Markfield and Chestnuts Parks was above the borough average – which is likely due to recent investments made which have seen a number of improvements to the parks including new and improved play facilities.
Approximately 15 million park visits are made per year.
Slight decreases in visits were seen in a few parks – particularly Bruce Castle Park and Stationers Park – both scored slightly below the borough average in play areas. Both parks are due to see significant investment in their play areas in 2010 through the Playbuilder Project.
