Save a Space For Me - Public Vote
Four Haringey parks have been selected to receive Queen Elizabeth II status, under a scheme called Save a Space for Me celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.
The Haringey parks are Albert Road Recreation Ground N22, Down Lane Park N17, Lordship Recreation Ground N17 and Muswell Hill Playing Fields N10.
Fields in Trust, a section of the National Playing Fields Association, held a national vote to select playing fields for the award of Queen Elizabeth II status, in time for the Queen’s 2012 Diamond Jubilee year. And thanks to your votes all four parks are to receive the status which will see the sites protected by Deed from development in perpetuity. QEII sites will also be given priority when making future funding bids.
Over the past couple of years Haringey has been successfully involved with promoting other public votes – the Mayor of London’s Priority Parks initiative where Lordship Recreation Ground won £400k in 2009 and Harmony Gardens on the Broadwater Farm Estate which won £50k from the People’s Millions in 2010.
