Beacon Status for Tennis Courts
Following on from the complete refurbishment of the tennis courts at the park, which was funded jointly by Haringey Council and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the facility has been awarded Beacon Status by the LTA. The formal handover of Beacon Status was made at a community sports and music festival at the park on Monday 7 May 2012.
Beacon Status is awarded to sites that offer regular quality and affordable organised tennis activities and also some free tennis opportunities for the local community. Currently the Council is offering coaching at the courts on Saturday mornings (delivered by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation) with free sessions available for adults.
The Council is also working closely with Pavilion Tennis who will shortly sign a lease with the Council for the old Bowls pavilion and the tennis courts. This development will in due course increase tennis and other opportunities at the park and provide a café and additional toilet facilities for park users
