Parkforce
Increasing presence - Improving safety - Inspiring communities
The presence of staff and agencies in parks encourages people into our green spaces and utilises them in ways that benefit communities. Having people using our parks turns them into places buzzing with activity which encourages even more people into them because they feel safe to use.
Parkforce is a new partnership scheme between Haringey Council, the Metropolitan Police, Haringey Friends of Parks Forum, conservation charity BTCV and other agencies, aimed at improving the supervision and access of parks across Haringey.
It came into effect in June 2009, with three main elements.
- Increased presence – across Haringey's significant parks, with staff trained and equipped with time to engage with park users, partners and other agencies
- Improved security – including regular patrols by the Metropolitan Police’s Safer Parks Unit and Safer Neighbourhood Teams
- Inspired communities – with the help of the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum and conservation charity BTCV to encourage volunteering in parks, utilising your award winning, high quality open spaces.
