Improving Parks

Haringey parks have been lucky to benefit from various pots of funding that have been successfully awarded and have had many groups working together to improve parks for all to enjoy.

Playbuilder has enabled many existing play areas to be improved and new ones created, aimed at ensuring children benefit from innovative and adventurous play.

Funding has been awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore three of the borough’s parks back to their former glory while providing modern day facilities.

And funding has been made available by the council for community groups to bid for, to make small local improvements to their open spaces including the Parks and Open Spaces Small Grants Scheme.

Communities have been brought together by partners such as Groundwork, working together with the ultimate aim of making their local parks and open spaces better places.

And individuals and community groups can also make contributions to their environment through the sponsorship scheme that offers the chance to install trees, benches and floral displays.

People have told us that they are concerned about the growing number of dogs causing problems in parks and open spaces. Therefore the Council has introduced Dog Control Orders as a way of controlling dog behaviour in parks, allowing people to feel safer and making parks better places to enjoy.
