Park User Survey Results 2007
In September 2007 questionnaires were sent to nearly 10,000 Haringey residents seeking their views on the borough's parks and open spaces. The 2008 Park User Survey will be distributed to randomly selected residents in September.
70% of people who responded are satisfied with the condition of parks and facilities within them, compared to a national figure of 65%.This shows a continual improvement in the maintenance and provision of all facilities over the last four years - a percentage increase of 11% since 2003.
Results from the 2005 survey were instrumental in driving forward the £1.4m Parks Improvement Programme that took place in 2005/06 and which saw extra bins and benches installed; pathways and sports areas within parks resurfaced; fences repaired, painted and erected and major refurbishment to 19 play sites. Feasibility work on four major renewal sites also took place, paving the way for future investment and improvements.
Results from the 2006 survey were used to plan for further improvements and were included in the daily management of the borough's parks and open spaces, helping to form long term aims and objectives in individual park management plans. These ensure that recommendations made and improvements needed, that cannot be implemented straight away, are scheduled in for future years.
