Friends Groups
Friends Groups are made up of local people, all sharing a passion for their local park. Friends Groups meet any time from a monthly to a quarterly basis.
Many Friends provide volunteer support within the parks, assisting with tasks such as clearing vegetation, litter and clean up operations. Conservation charity TCV work with many Friends Groups offering them support with a number of tasks and services. Some have also been instrumental in winning funding from both council and external bodies for improvements to their green spaces.
Many Groups also instrumental in organising lots of the exciting activities that take place in the parks throughout the year. To find out what’s happening in parks please visit the What’s On page.
Friends Groups are represented on the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum. The Forum serves to bring together the various Friends Groups within Haringey. Forum meetings are held every three months, and provide an opportunity for Friends to share information and raise issues with each other and senior council officers who are often in attendance. A record of what is discussed at the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum can be found below.
Community involvement is a very important aspect of achieving and maintaining high standards within our parks and is a major factor in the winning of the Green Flag Awards.
We welcome your input and involvement through the Friends Groups. If you would like to support your local park join your local Friends of Park group. Alternatively we can provide help and support if you are interested in setting you a new Friends group.
