Haringey Substance Misuse Training
The Haringey Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) offer a programme of one-day courses about substance misuse. The training is FREE to anyone living or working within Haringey. We also accept applicants from outside of Haringey (charged £50 per course).
Courses available are outlined below
- Basic Drugs and Alcohol Awareness – Gain knowledge about drugs and alcohol, how to begin discussing problems and what services are available to help.
- Advanced Alcohol Awareness – This course builds upon the knowledge gained from the basic course. It involves a more in-depth look at alcohol issues, including its social impact and treatment options.
- Advanced Drugs Awareness – This course builds upon the knowledge gained from the basic course. It involves more detail on various drugs, treatment options and harm minimisation.
- Crack Cocaine Awareness – This course examines cocaine and crack cocaine use, psychological dependence on these drugs and available treatment options.
- Dual Diagnosis Training – This training focuses on the particular issues faced by individuals with combined substance misuse and mental health problems.
- Brief Interventions – This training covers the techniques that can be used when working with clients over a short time period. It looks at the use of brief interventions in practice.
- Young People and Drugs – This training covers the specific issue of substance misuse and young people. It examines policy issues, appropriate interventions, education and available sources of support.
Registration
To apply for any of the courses please use our online course booking form. Please note that if you cannot attend the training day and do not inform Haringey DAAT giving 48 hours notice, you will be charged a non-attendance fee of £50.
