How you can get involved

Become a Community Crime Fighter

We’re looking for people to help combat crime and anti-social behaviour in their community. A course providing free training for Community Volunteers, Community Leaders and Neighbourhood Watch and Ward Panel members is being held in London - Wednesday 25 November. Some benefits of attending the training include; discovering how to get the best out of local crime fighting agencies and finding out about the help provided to victims and witnesses of crime and anti-social behaviour. Your community group may even be eligible to receive funding for a local project

One Haringey resident who took part in a previous course said… "The training was brilliant I feel more empowered to go back and help my community."

Lunch is provided and help is available with travel costs.

Places are strictly limited!

To book a place www.communitycrimefighters.org.uk (external link) or call 0800 197 2965 quoting CCF02.

Community Payback

Do you know of an area which could benefit from a bit of a face lift? Then we want to hear from you. By contacting your local Safer Neighbourhood Police team (contact details in the attached files section below), you can put forward ideas and suggestions for projects in your neighbourhood. Types of projects that can be undertaken are; litter picks, general clear-ups, renovating allotments, tidying church grounds, re-decorating community halls and spaces.

Earlier this year ‘Community Payback’ was used to cut back dense overgrowth at All Hallows Churchyard in Tottenham.

Go to a Police Ward Panel meeting

Police Ward Panels are held locally. You can go along to talk to police officers and explain any concerns you have and help set the crime priorities locally.

Go to a local Area Assembly meeting

Local Area Assembly meetings are your chance to meet up with your local councillors, council officers and your Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team. Go along and tell them what you think needs to be done.

Nominate Community Payback

Did you know you can nominate an area in Haringey for offenders to work on as apart of their community service?

Local people had the chance to influence the type of work offenders carry out in their neighbourhood by nominating projects. All Hallows was the first project chosen.

The ‘Community Payback’ scheme has been used to cut back overgrowing trees and bushes at All Hallows Churchyard in Tottenham.

Offender carrying our community service

Under the scheme, low level offenders carry out unpaid clean up work supervised by Probation and Safer Neighbourhood Officers
