Imran Ahmad: Unimagined
Date: Saturday 13 September 2008 – 3pm – 4.30pm
Venue: Wood Green Central Library, Business Lounge
Author event for Peace Week - Imran Ahmad: Unimagined- autobiographical story of a Muslim boy growing up in Britain.
Restore the Rec’ - Lordship Rec Community Festival
Date: Saturday 13 September 2008, 1pm – 5pm
Venue: Lordship Recreation Ground, N17
Fun for all the family at Lordship Recreation Ground and Broadwater Farm Community Centre. There will be food, sports activities, a health zone, a talent show, children’s activities and much more!
Peace Bike Ride
Date: Saturday 13 September 2008, 12 noon
Venue: Lordship Recreation Ground (bmx area), N17
Get on your bike for Week of Peace! The ride will start from Lordship Rec and tour the borough returning to Lordship Rec for the community festival. Everyone is welcome to join, just bring your bike and helmet.
Peace Picnic
Date: Saturday 13 September 2008, 1pm – 5pm
Venue: Lordship Recreation Ground, N17
Come and celebrate the diversity of Haringey by bringing a dish to the peace picnic, join in the food share, there will be laughter, food and a whole lot of peace! It's the perfect recipe for success!

Poetry and Music for Peace
Date: Sunday 14 September – 2pm – 5pm
Venue: The Gallery, Wood Green Central Library
1 hour of Music (Urdu, Punjabi and Gujarati) by Zameer Javed.
1 hour of Asian poems - with English explanations (Seema’s group)
1 hour open mike session – all languages with English explanations.
Light refreshments.
Christian Peace Service
Date: Sunday 14 September at 6pm
Venue: Dominion Centre, 9 The Broadway, Wood Green High Road, N22 6DS
All Christians in Haringey of various denominations, age and ethnicity will be holding a Haringey Service for Peace. There will be singing, prayers, a mass community choir and much more. Everyone is welcome!

Watch & Discuss: Kids, Knives and Broken Lives
Date: Monday 15 September, 7pm – 9pm
Venue: Hornsey Library Gallery, Haringey Park, N8 9JA
Watch Channel 4’s acclaimed documentary 'Kids, Knives and Broken Lives', part of the Disarming Britain series which investigates why so many young people regularly take to the streets of Britain armed with guns and knives. Discuss the documentary with a panel of speakers.
Building Community Cohesion through Religious Understanding
Date: Monday 15 September, 4pm – 7pm
Venue: Marcus Garvey Library, Tottenham Green Centre, 1 Philip Lane, N15
Leaders from the Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions are mounting displays and will be available to answer questions about their faiths. Police will also be available to provide crime prevention advice.

Peace Breakfast (re-launch of What’s the Point?)
Date: Tuesday 16 September – 8am
Venue: Freedom’s Ark, Bruce Grove
The Peace Alliance are hosting an invitation only peace breakfast to discuss current issues and launch the new version of “what’s the point?”. “What’s the point?” is an innovative graphic novel aimed at showing young people the consequences of carrying a knife.
Peace Fair for Secondary School Children
Date: Tuesday 16 September, 9.30am - 3.30pm
Venue: Teen Library, Wood Green Central Library, High Road, N22 6XD
This is a joint engagement event planned by the Library Service and the Police. The aim of the day is to promote peace and community cohesion. Local Secondary Schools have been invited to bring students to attend the following sessions; an introduction to peace week, showing of the Police Operation Blunt II DVD, a ‘what peace means?’ activity and a peace fair where local organisations will showcase their services.

Unity Day Event
Date: Wednesday 17 September – 12 noon – 6pm
Venue: The Mall, Wood Green Shopping City
Stalls and presentations from various groups from Haringey’s voluntary, community and public sector organisations working to make Haringey a better place. Find out about volunteering opportunities and what services may be available to you.
Unity Day - I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Date: Wednesday 17 September – 4.30pm
Venue: Wood Green High Road between Wood Green Tube and Turnpike Lane Tube stations.
Haringey residents, shoppers, police, council workers, community organisations and retailers, young and old, are invited to form a human hand-holding chain linking Wood Green Underground Station with Turnpike Lane. Wear a white shirt!
St. Ann’s Hospital “Dreams” Art Exhibition
Date: Wednesday 17 September
Venue: St Ann’s Hospital
The Occupational Therapy (OT) Department in collaboration with the Mental Health Community Development Workers in Haringey are organising an art competition and exhibition of service users’ work, related to the concept of ‘Dreams’.

Haringey DV bus tours the borough offering support to Domestic Violence victims and highlighting services available.

United Colours of Britain
Date: Saturday 20 September, 7pm – 11pm
Venue: Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Town Hall Approach Road, Tottenham Green, N15 4RX
The event is a talent show and beauty pageant for young people to encourage integration and promote talent. Tickets can be bought through the Bernie Grant centre website or 07817 736 144.

Walk of Peace/Picnic

Venue: start at Wood Green Civic Centre, High Road, N22 then walk to Ducketts Common
A walk of peace with representatives from different churches within Haringey will start from the Wood Green Civic Centre at 2pm ending at Ducketts Common. Please bring a picnic to share with someone else!
