Haringey Public Mortuary
In February 2009, Haringey Council opened it’s new mortuary in Church Lane, Tottenham. This new facility has been constructed to the highest standards for both normal and forensic postmortems.
Situated in landscaped grounds with a bereavement garden, it will play its part in helping and supporting those who have been touched by the sudden death of a loved one or friend.
Haringey Council is very proud of the new facility which has been described as one of the best public mortuaries in the Country.
Our staff provide a caring and sensitive service and are proud of the work they undertake on behalf of the community. All are highly qualified anatomical pathology technicians who have been in the profession many years.
For urgent matters a 24 hour service every day of the year is provided. Our staff will:
- Admit and properly handle cases with dignity and respect
- Assist pathologists in undertaking postmortems
- Facilitate viewings and identification of the deceased
- Enable timely and efficient release of the deceased for burial or cremation
- Assist Her Majesty’s Coroner to deal quickly with cases for faith or religious requirements

For non-urgent matters, our office hours are:
Monday to Friday
8am - 12.30pm and 2pm - 4pm
